Taos sits at 7,200 feet on the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains, in the high desert. The Rio Grande flows by us year round, and the Taos Pueblo, one of the oldest, still-functioning pueblos of the Southwest, is situated at the foot of the mountains only a mile from the center of town.
In winter Taos becomes a magnificent winter wonderland, with resorts for skiing and other winter sports. In the summer, river rafting, biking, and hiking are just a few of the activities you can enjoy in
the great outdoors. Between the cool mountain air and the absence of humidity, Taos has been the destination for travelers in every season.
Taos is also a premier art scene with over 80 galleries as well as the Harwood Museum, the Blumenshein Museum, the Kit Carson Home & Museum, and the Millicent Rogers Museum. With an abundance of restaurants to choose from, you will delight your palate time and time again.
